Former Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is a target for Real Madrid as the 35-year-old is available on a free transfer.

UFABET reported on Tuesday that Real Madrid are considering a one-year deal with former Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, who is currently a free agent.
Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their centre-back position ahead of the new season after missing out on Leny Yoro, who joined Manchester United, while David Alaba is still out until mid-November to recover, leaving Carlo Ancelotti with Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao at the helm.
Real Madrid were previously reported to be in talks over a move for Al-Nassr’s Spain Euro 2024 winning centre-back Aymeric Laporte, UFABET but Los Blancos are now interested in Hummels.
Hummels is a free agent after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired this summer, although Bologna were reportedly in talks with the 35-year-old defender, with the former Germany international putting talks on hold after learning of Los Blancos’ interest.
Real Madrid could sign Hummels on a one-year deal for a reasonable fee, which would be a good option for Ancelotti as the club look to sign a young defender in the summer of 2025.
This has, therefore, allowed Los Blancos to enter the race to secure his signature. As stated in the report, Real are looking to recruit a centre-half this summer after missing out on Leny Yoro.
The European champions are also considering signing Hummels’ previous defensive partner, Nico Schlotterbeck. Nevertheless, as it stands, Bologna are still favourites to sign Hummels, who is looking for a future away from the Bundesliga.
